2D & 3D Films

Two-dimensional laminates (2DL) and three-dimensional laminates (3DL) are products made using films versatile in commercial and residential applications. Our 2DL and 3DL films offer excellent options in a range of designs, performance, and durability. 2DL and 3DL films are constructed using thermoplastic films. 2DL is primarily used for flat lamination which combines matching edgebanding to the profile wrapping of trim and moldings to create a finished product. 3DL is membrane pressed which provides the users freedom to laminate substrates with contoured surfaces and create seamless edges without the need for edgebanding.

3D Laminates

3DL’s are also known as rigid thermoforable foils (RTF). Our films can be heated and formed over a three-dimensional substrate (typically MDF or particleboard). Our 3D films are made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which softens when heated and retains the three-dimensional shape after lamination when cooled. The most common use of our 3D film is to laminate materials by heating this film in either a vacuum or membrane press, so it is thermoformable and pliable. This allows the film to be formed over a contoured or routed substrate. The membrane press utilizes heat and pressure to “laminate” materials like cabinets doors, drawer fronts and a bunch of other components.

2D Laminates

2DL’s are considered any film flexible enough to be laminated in two dimensions. For example, moldings or your typical flat lamination. We offer two types of 2D film utilizing different base materials below the design layer, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and non-PVC (polypropylene). The flexibility of our 2D films creates a product which is flexible and ideal for profile wrapping machines. Our polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and non-PVC (polypropylene) films are made to have superior water, chemical and scratch resistance to make them suitable for applications in which these performance metrics are needed. Our 2D films also can come with an embossed surface for realistic woodgrains or other unique embossing finishes. Common uses of our 2D films include walls, ceilings, multiple applications in recreational vehicles, retail store fixtures, cabinets, commercial flooring, and multiple residential applications.
